November Snow

We got our first sticky snow Saturday afternoon and it continued throughout most of Sunday. I did a google search to see if any old wives’ tales about November snows, and I found a lady in Iowa who said that a first snow on the 30th means there will be 30 measurable snows this winter. Yikes. I suppose that is okay as long as the wind doesn’t drift us in as much as it did last winter. *knocks on wood and ignores N/NW wind currently blowing up to 27 mph outside*
I went out with Wiley and Cyrus during Milo’s morning nap. We built a snowman and they did other classic activities like eating snow, throwing snow, rolling in snow, shoveling snow, and so on.
We came in and had hot cocoa before lunch. Later in the day we went out with Milo, but it had gotten colder and the wind had picked up more.
Look here for the whole day’s worth of photos.
Papa Dave stayed the night, he was here helping remodel the upstairs bathroom. When not playing in the snow, the boys watched Frosty the Snowman and a couple other holiday classics. I cooked chili, did laundry and baked banana bread.
Just a few days ago we enjoyed another fairly mild weathered Thanksgiving at the Dargin farm. Looks like there was a dusting of snow last year, so by mild, I must have been thinking of 2006. A few days before that, the cows showed up.
A few days before that, I failed as a sheep herder, but at least kept them fed. And a few days before that, Dad and cousin Albert came up to get Anna the Donkey. Before that, Cyrus celebrated his 4th birthday, Wiley lost his first front tooth, and we saw rainbows.
Less than a month until the next holiday get-together…
