We had steady rain for two days straight earlier this week, as did much of Iowa, i.e. lots of rivers out of banks and ponds in fields, etc. Last night I headed downstairs to pull something out of the dryer (had been neglecting laundry since the weekend) and stopped myself mid-staircase when I saw the floor. Yikes, like 4 inches of water! Stew trudged down in his croc shoes to unplug the drains and was wincing at how cold the water was. He returned with mud boots and fished assorted ruined things (brand new case of paper towels) up off the floor. It drained fairly quickly but is still damp this morning yet.

I am currently about 4 days more pregnant that I’ve ever been before, kind of strange, feels like I’m on borrowed time or something. Even though for a while when I was planning on having a lot of school stuff to finish and was hoping to make it to the due date, May 8th, I guess in the back of my mind I was always pretty sure I’d deliver around 38 weeks again. Even more so when last week my midwife was concerned about some lab work and was having me take it easy, saying we may have to induce if next appointment there were same results. However next appointment everything was normal and my water didn’t break that night (like it did with Cyrus) so now we are in uncharted territory.

The boys are at Papa Dave’s for the weekend and Stew is out doing errands so the house has been quiet this morning. I’ve showered, got the laundry almost done (it is the putting away part I slack on) and windows open and plants watered and kitchen counters wiped and now this update. Whee. Nesting energy?
